2020-01-22 23:11:45 Burkland Eric Cumley Limited on mallards by 1:00 pm. Northern birds are showing up in numbers. Set floater decoys in the ditch north of the blind. Also, thousands of snow geese were in the field directly west of our field between Burkland and Cedardale.
2020-01-22 20:50:37 Burmaster Dan Farwell Jan. 21- Took 3 ducks in about 2 hours. Missed a few others. Mixed species (Teal, Widgeon, Pintail, Mallards). Also had a few greater Canada geese check us out but could not get them close enough.
2019-12-30 14:53:25 Fields in general David Hill Other than snow geese, about the only thing flying are sea gulls, crows and a hawk here and there! Agree? Just an incredibly bad year so far
2019-12-25 17:51:11 Burmaster Ricky Heflin A Few ducks flying in the morning not many saw maybe a dozen in total, if you hunt with a dog make sure to bring some type of stand if hunting from the blind as the blind has about 18” of water in it. Also some one left their decoys in the blind..... thin layer of ice on the pond this morning nothing crazy broke right up the dog had no issue going through it either.
2019-12-22 15:51:09 Any Dave Severson Hws anyone noticed any new ducks in the area after the big rain?
2019-12-21 15:11:41 Burmaster David Hill Has anyone hunted this location? And if so, results?
2019-12-19 18:27:23 Pioneer Ken Schroeder Hunted 12/18. The wind that was forecast never appeared, so it was slow. 8 ducks flew over 100 yards up at shooting light but that was it. I drove around a little and any duck I saw off the bay was sitting in water (sheet water, ditches etc.) Speaking of sheet water there were quite a few Canada geese sitting on sheet water south of the field at Pioneer. It may be worth throwing in a couple of Canada decoys if you are going to hunt here. I hunted from the blind on the east side of Pioneer by the tracks. It is getting a little worn out so you might want to bring some zip ties and give your self a few extra minutes to gather some brush/grass to freshen up the blind a little bit. Good Luck.
2019-12-19 12:46:11 Fir Island West Tim Smokoff This past weekend on the 15th, we watched thousands of Snow Geese fly overhead on their way to the nearby Wildlife Reserve. Only one group came low enough to engage, largely due to sky blasters sitting on the outer dyke. The only duck we saw were 3 right at shooting time.
2019-12-17 22:03:17 Ricky Heflin No fields holding ducks yet, hunted the bay by the du unit lots of pintails and some mallards, looks as though they have not been pushed off the bay.... was hoping with the amount of pintail I saw it means new birds are the way.
2019-12-15 19:55:35 KWTH fields David Hill I have made three scouting trips over the last several weeks, specifically looking for ducks. Last time there was a flock of about 25 mallards, across the road (N. Side) of Stackpole Rd from KWTH site. Drainage ditch plus some still water, about 150 yds from road. Checked other sites, not one duck! Glassed bay off Fir Island, there were good numbers of snows but not many ducks! Can we hear from other members?
2019-12-10 10:11:25 all fields rick With the warmer drier weather the ducks are just not here in numbers as the past. keep the faith!! Snow goose hunting kicks back off again this Saturdat the 14th.
